Nova Construction refurbishment project receives commendation from Cornish Buildings Group.
Nova Construction is proud to announce one of its prestigious refurbishment projects has received a highly sought-after commendation from the Cornish Buildings Group. The Old Cathedral School in Truro underwent an extensive refurbishment and period of modernisation by Nova Construction and Koha Architects. Built in 1908, the school is one of the most historically significant buildings in Truro city centre. Set over three floors, the Grade II listed building was subject to a considered up-lift in specification and presence to safeguard its longevity and accessibility. The Cornish Buildings Group focus on preserving the integrity of existing historic buildings through acknowledging and encouraging sympathetic refurbishment works. It is an honour for any building contractor to have its work acknowledged by the Cornish Buildings Group.

Nova Construction gives insight to construction at Camborne Science & International Academy
Nova Construction was invited to speak to year 7 students at Camborne Science & International Academy about careers within the construction sector. An open event to all first year students, Nova Construction gave an overview of the company’s structure, explanation of its services and showcased three of its most iconic projects. Focus was placed on shifting the perception of stereotypical construction jobs and explaining the diversity of possible career paths. The students were clearly amazed by the exciting world of construction and were surprised by the range of careers involved with building properties in Cornwall. Each student was astonished to realise a local construction company was building some of the most iconic and admired properties in the County.
Nova Construction begins work on prestigious project in West Cornwall.
Nova Construction is proud to begin works on another prestigious residential building project on Hain Walk, St. Ives. Nova Construction takes recycling to new level.
Nova Construction is proud to have increased its recycling efforts by engaging with Cornwall College and gifting a superseded van to its Automotive Engineering students. Based less than one mile from Nova Construction’s head office, Cornwall College’s Pool campus provides education services to hundreds of surrounding students. The Automotive Engineering department focuses on the maintenance and repairing of disused road vehicles. Unlike typically donated vehicles where they cannot be reinstated to road worthy condition, the van will provide an excellent learning opportunity to students before returning to the local roads. Nova Construction Contracts Manager Ben Atkinson said “We’re very proud to help Cornwall College and its students, as a local company we see it as our duty to help those around us through learning and engagement opportunities.”

One of the most coveted awards in the United Kingdom; the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Building Excellence awards centre on recognising the very best in contractor standards and achieved finish levels. This is the third year a Nova Construction project has been shortlisted for an LABC award and senior representatives will be attending the celebrations in Plymouth in April. Managing Director Mark Atkinson had this to say “It’s a great privilege to have our work repeatedly recognised by such a respected body. Everyone at Nova Construction works hard to deliver the very highest of standards and we are extremely proud of our collective achievement in delivering such a remarkable property.”

Nova Construction project receives royal approval from future King.
Nova Construction is proud to announce its latest prestigious refurbishment project has been formally opened by HRH The Prince of Wales. The Truro Cathedral Old Boys School welcomed The Prince of Wales and members of the Cathedral to celebrate the project and is remarkable transformation. The Grade II listed property underwent an extensive refurbishment by Nova Construction bringing a much needed modernisation to its infrastructure whilst retaining its distinctive features. Set over three floors, the Cathedral School played a key role during World War II as a refuge for evacuated scholars from St. Pauls Cathedral in London. Now open to the public, the impressive building has become a creative and social hub for those in the surrounding communities.

Nova Construction begin works on renowned development.
Nova Construction is proud to announce it has begun works on a renowned mid Cornwall development. Nova Construction is proud to announce it has delivered another insight to construction talk to local school students. Pool Academy invited Nova Construction to celebrate the company’s success and showcase the incredible careers available to those looking to enter the construction industry. Over 300 year ten and year eleven students attended the event that included an overview of the company’s profile, examples of previous projects, explanations of different construction sectors, associated career paths and a detailed question and answer session. The students clearly enjoyed the presentation and admitted they did not release construction offered such diverse and interesting career possibilities. The event was such a success that a return invitation has been extended to Nova Construction representatives.

Nova Construction is proud to announce it is has delivered an insight to construction talk to local school students. Redruth School invited Nova Construction to share its success with local students and discuss the skills needed to succeed in a growing industry. Based on an interview process, Nova Construction Business Development Executive (Lewis Tolputt) met with students and their parents to discuss the pupil’s individual grades and how best for them to enter the exciting world of construction. Students from a multitude of backgrounds and skill sets attended and there was clear excitement for the array of possibilities within a career in construction. Hosts Redruth School coordinated the event to perfection – enabling pupils and parents to maximise their time with Lewis and understand what’s needed to be successful in the construction industry

Nova Construction is proud to announce one of its premium residential dwelling projects has been shorted listed for a Regional LABC Building Excellence award. Creed Barn (located on the outskirts of Truro) underwent an extensive period of refurbishment and extension by Nova Construction. The distinctive 18th century barn had undergone several attempts at refurbishment in its admired history but failed to realise the property’s true potential. Key features include a large open plan family kitchen and socialising space, three large reception rooms, three large bedrooms, study, master dressing suite, feature staircase, oak flooring, focal fireplaces, detached annex, carports and extensive landscaped grounds. Sundial Court, located on Hain Walk in St. Ives, was subject to a period extensive refurbishment and extension by Nova Construction in 2016. Upon completion the property was sold by Savills estate agents and dramatically exceeded market expectations. With uninterrupted views of Carbis Bay, Hayle Beach and Perranporth Bay, retained original features such as herringbone parquet flooring, feature hardwood staircase and the conveniences of a modern highly-efficient property; Sundial Court is a unique dwelling with an enviable specification.

Nova Construction is proud to announce one of its premium refurbishment projects has been added to the notorious Telegraph Luxury Property list. Located on the outskirts of Newquay, Butterfield House underwent a detailed refurbishment by Nova Construction. The 19th century listed Rectory required extensive works to stabilise its condition and safeguard its future. Considered a local and national icon for Gothic architecture, the property fell into a state of disrepair and required urgent efforts. Consisting of sleeping accommodation for up to 12 residents, a formal dining room, reading room, study, period entrance hall, large open-plan kitchen, utility room, detached guest annex, private swimming pool and mature landscaped grounds; Butterfield House is now a remarkable property and a fitting addition to the Telegraph’s portfolio.

Nova Construction begin refurbishment of historic city building.
Nova Construction is proud to announce it has begun refurbishment works to the historic former Truro Cathedral School building. Built in 1908 and once used to house evacuated scholars from St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, the Old Cathedral School is one of Truro Cathedral’s largest and most valuable assets. As a repeat contractor for the diocese of Truro, Nova Construction was appointed to carefully preserve the building’s distinctive features through a process of sensitive refurbishment. Works are also to incorporate a number of modern and desirable upgrades ensuring the building is accessible to all for many generations to come. Designed to become a creative and social hub for those in the immediate and surrounding areas, the Old Cathedral School is due to open in 2018 and will offer its users access to a café, concert area, start-up company office spaces and socialising areas.

Nova Construction partner with LEGO to create community event.
Nova Construction is proud to announce is has partnered with LEGO and The Tablet Academy and delivered the first county-wide LEGO construction competition. 12 teams from a range of schools entered the event and spent the day competing in a number of construction challenges. Aimed at exploring and identifying creative solutions to some of the construction industry’s most common problems, the event was a clear success with the participating students. Nova Construction donated a range of prizes for the successful teams and for individuals who showed great leadership, camaraderie and communication skills. The event also benefited from extensive television coverage on BBC Spotlight. All those participating enjoyed the event and Nova Construction has been invited to assist in future events in the community.

Nova Construction community project opened by Olympians.
Nova Construction is proud to announce its latest community project has been opened by Olympians Helen Glover and Heather Stanning. Newquay Rowing Club welcomed the two gold medal winning athletes to formally open its new facilities in the town centre. Nova Construction carried out a period of detailed refurbishment and extension works for the club as its facilities required upgrading. As the world’s oldest rowing club house, the Newquay venue is at the centre of the global rowing community and a custodian of some of the oldest gig boats in the world. Dating back to 1812, the gig boats required a bespoke storage facility and maintenance area. The completed works also incorporated the creation of a tailor-made events area and entertaining space for guests.
